Reacquaintances tells the story of individual interests in classical composition and pop sensibility shared using jazz as a medium of idea exchange. Recorded on a relaxed afternoon in Michael’s living room, cups of coffee close at hand and a cool breeze in the air, their collaboration on marimba and classical guitar create a whimsical atmosphere of sonic delight. Michael brings joy to the mix with his prowess on the marimba and years studying percussion and composition earning a Masters Degree in Conducting from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Jaems brings with him the cool laid back approach of Grant Green on a classical nylon string guitar in the spirit of Charlie Byrd. Michael and Jaems together explore the playfulness of melodies familiar to jazz and music fans alike, while adding their own unique compositions to and drawing from the lexicon of the Great Global Songbook.
